Grooming Policy

Although accidents are rare, there are risks associated when sharp grooming tools are being used on dogs who move or wiggle suddenly. Extreme care is taken, however, if an injury occurs, owners will be notified immediately. If we feel the injury is serious and the owner cannot be contacted, we will seek immediate vet care for your pet, with expenses to be paid by owner unless the injury is a direct cause by The Doggy Wears Pawda (TDWP).

Health/Medical Problems

Grooming can sometimes expose hidden medical problems or aggravate current ones, and can occur during or after grooming. All veterinary care expenses will be covered by the animal’s owner.

Accidents

There is always a risk when dealing with animals, and although rare, should an accident occur, you will be notified. If TDWP deem it is serious and the owner is not contactable, TDWP will seek immediate veterinary care for your dog. All expenses are the responsibility of the owner unless it is a direct cause by TDWP. TDWP will not be held responsible for any dog that may pass away during the grooming process.

Fleas    

We are a flea free salon. If fleas are found on your dog, we will administer medicated flea shampoo at $10 and charge an additional $25 cleaning fee required to throughly sanitise, clean and flea-bomb our salon afterwards. This is done in the best interest of your dog and other dogs in our care. 

Dangerous or Aggressive Animals – Refusal of Services

In the event that your dog becomes too stressed or dangerous to groom, TDWP has the right to refuse grooming services, stop grooming services or cancel grooming services at any time before, during or after grooming and client will be charged appropriately for work completed to that point.

If a dog is extremely aggressive or anxious, we will suggest for it to be groomed at a vet clinic that has onsite grooming. If we agree to groom a mildly aggressive dog that bites, an additional $20 will be charged due to the risks associated and extra time required.

Matted Coats

Dogs with matting require extra time and specialised tools to demat the dog. Therefore, an additional fee will be charged ($20 per mat, or $40 whole body).

Matting is dangerous to remove and may require your dog to be shaved close to the skin. Removing any mats may cause nicks, cuts or abrasions and skin irritations to your dog. Post-grooming affects may include itchiness, skin redness and abrasions.

TDWP will not be held liable for any accidental nick or cut to a dogs skin, which is caused when matting is present.

Prevention of matting is the best defence by regular brushing at home, and scheduling regular grooming appointments every 4-6 weeks (depending on breed).

Interruptions during Grooming Services

We appreciate your trust whilst your pups are in our care, so please avoid ringing/texting as this holds up time spent from grooming and may add unnecessary pressure to groomers.

Please allow up to 3 hours for grooming packages and do nor arrive to pick up pups until we contact you. Early arrivals will distract your pup and becomes hazardous to continue to groom them. We we reserve the right to end the grooming session and the full grooming price will be charged.

Cancellations/No Show

TDWP require any salon cancellations are made at least 24 business hours in advance. Failure to inform us will result in an extra fee being charged upon the next visit.

Payment

Payment is strictly due at time of pick up. Pricing is subject to change.

Satisfaction

Your satisfaction is important to us. If you are unhappy/would like something adjusted, please let us know when you pick up your dog. Once a dog leaves our premises any return visits are treated as a new appointment and charged accordingly.

Photographs

This release authorises TDWP to take photos of your dog for client file and for any marketing or advertising by TDWP. All photos taken are property of TDWP.
